Moving can be very exciting and very stressful.
Here are 5 tips to help make your relocation to Denver as
smooth and enjoyable as possible.

1.  Consider the possible changes in living costs in the new area. Utility costs; you may be considering moving into a larger home in a
warmer or colder climate. Commuting costs; there can be as much as $1.00 a gallon, or more, in gas costs difference from state to state. Higher state and/or local taxes. You want to be sure that you can afford to live in the new area, and that your new job will pay you accordingly.  Or if you are retiring you don’t want to move where it will eat up your planned retirement income.

2. After you have made your decision to relocate to Colorado, make a checklist and a calendar of all the things you need to do. For example, important documents such as warranties, tax records, receipts, medical records, genealogy documents are items that should be set aside and kept safe. Get referrals from your doctor and dentist on professionals in Colorado. Establish a Colorado bank account at the new location or check to see if your present bank has a branch in your area you are moving to.

3. Hire a moving company with a great reputation and experience with relocating clients to Colorado. Ask friends and have the prospective moving company give you the names of three recent customers. Call the customers to get their experiences. Problems, how were they solved? Did the company back up their promises? Check with the BBB. If the company is not competent enough, you might end up in a long drawn out mess. Have all the costs and payment methods in writing and upfront. You don't want to have the moving company damage your belongings with no quick method of getting the item fixed or compensated for the loss.

4. If renting, you may not want to cancel your existing lease too soon. It is always wise to build in some extra time in your moving plans to Denver. Also, if you own a home, try not to make the closing time line to tight. If possible, make the move to Denver first and then go back for the closing later.

5. Children sometimes can resist moving to a new state or city. Keep them informed on the decision making process. If possible take them on a trip to the area you will be moving. Be positive and explain they will still have their bed and toys and other familiar things. If you're positive about the move to Denver they will pick up on your attitude.

"We were so impressed with Lane's knowledge of Denver and its surrounding suburbs.  He was the perfect real estate agent to go with when moving to Denver.  His years in the real estate business really helped us narrow down an area we wanted to relocate to very quickly.  His experience with Colorado schools systems was also a huge plus when working with him.  He made the move to Denver so easy for us.  He will always be our real estate agent and now is our friend as well!"

Moving to Denver

Moving to Colorado, or any new area, can seem very overwhelming for some.  There are so many very important decisions to make when relocating and one of the first is finding the right relocation Realtor!

What do I provide and do for my clients who are moving to Denver.

My clients are very important to me and I plan on being your expert when it comes to finding the right location, neighborhood, school system and home.   I am a father myself, so I know how important it is to find the area and school system that is perfect for your family.  I have been in the real estate business for over10 years. I know the Denver Metro area and surrounding suburbs better than most, which is key when relocating to Denver.  My goal is to make moving to Denver an exciting and smooth process.

After our first interview I will create an informational relocation packet of the top areas that fit what you are looking for when moving to Denver. The packet will include information about each city you are interested in possibly moving to, a sample listing of houses, and if needed, information about the school systems.

Please call or email me if you have any questions about moving to Denver.
